| What is
an Allergy?
An allergy is an abnormal, adverse
physical reaction of the body to certain substances known as allergens
(or antigens). These substances can be toxic or non-toxic and allergy
sufferers will react to quantities that are harmless to most people.
When exposed to allergens, the brain
identifies the allergen and alerts the immune system. Allergic
individuals then develop an excess of an antibody called immunoglobulin
E (IgE). The IgE antibodies react with allergens to release histamines
and other chemicals from cell tissues that produce various allergic
symptoms.
The
brain makes an effort to protect the body
from any substance that it perceives as harmful. |
Allergies are classified according to
the causative substance or the resulting symptoms.
For example: an allergy to B vitamins
can cause B vitamin deficiencies and result in chronic health problems
such as chronic fatigue syndrome, attention deficit disorder,
depression, digestive problems, asthma, and headaches.
What is NAET?
NAET is short for Nambudripad’s
Allergy Elimination Techniques. The theory behind NAET is the oriental
concept that the body is made up of pathways for the flow of
electromagnetic energy. According to this concept, when an allergen
enters or contacts the body there is a clash between the energy fields
of the allergy sufferer and the allergen causing energy blockages in the
pathways - leading to an allergic reaction.
What is the NAET Treatment like?
The Practitioner utilizes Kinesiology
to determine what a client is allergic to. When a client is allergic to
a substance, a strong muscle weakens in response to a message from the
brain. While the client holds the allergen, the practitioner checks to
see what areas of the body are blocked. When the blockages are
identified the practitioner stimulates points along the spine that
correlate with areas of blockage.
Stimulation of those points balances
the electromagnetic fields of the body with those of the allergen
resulting in the reprogramming of the nervous system to stop identifying
the substance as an allergen.
The client then avoids contact with
the allergen, and certain foods and substances associated with that
allergen, for 25 hours to allow for conditioning. After this period, the
client is tested again. If they followed the instructions of avoiding
the allergen during the 25 hour period, they normally become completely
desensitized. If they did come into contact with it, their allergy
reaction may only be partial or return over time. |
